The Burden of Taxes on Pakistan’s Salaried Class: A Call for Reform

Surviving in Pakistan has become increasingly challenging for the salaried class. The government imposes taxes on nearly everything without providing essential services like security, cleanliness, healthcare, and education. People are grappling with life's uncertainties and the burden of purchasing necessities such as gas cylinders, solar power for electricity, clean drinking water, and healthcare, all while paying taxes on these items.

Here are just a few of the many taxes we face:

  • Income tax
  • Food tax
  • Property tax
  • Vehicle tax
  • Road tax
  • Medicine tax
  • General goods tax
  • FBR tax
  • Burial tax
  • Electricity tax, including additional charges like monthly fuel adjustment tax and Uniform tax (despite no visible uniforms)
  • Gas tax
  • Water tax
  • Mobile tax
  • Electronics tax
  • Mobile balance and package tax

What’s next? A tax on breathing? 🤣

Are there other taxes being imposed that I haven’t mentioned?
