My 3rd Visit to Karachi ✈️

Nisar Ahmad meet Usama Shahid (the Bridegroom)

After 12 years, for the 3rd time, I visited Karachi (mini-Pakistan) for 3 days. This time travelling was light through air, I felt that I just travelled from one village to another, but the big difference was the temperature. I was waring winter stuff in Islamabad while in Karachi I felt that it is summer, fan was on, and the temperature was in between 24 to 27 °C 🥵 while in Islamabad it was in between 10 to 17 °C.

When I boarded the plane from Islamabad Airport, I had strange vibrations of sensations running inside me. I was dying to see the mini-Pakistan and the sea. Some apprehensions were there at the back of mind regarding the law-and-order situation there and the stories appearing in the papers. I had heard so much about Karachi culture that I was getting almost dizzy in anticipation. I was honoured to have a city like this in my country. “Kharachi, Kharachi, Kharachi I am coming”, .....this was what I was humming. As the plane was hovering above Karachi airport to land, I was craning my neck, which sticking my face to window 🪟, to see a glimpse of sea, but the haze didn’t let me succeed. As soon as I got out of the terminal building, I was greeted by some relatives (Ismael and Fazal subhan ) and friends (Shafiq and his lil son Talha), listening to the typical Urdu accents. As soon our vehicle started travelling on Shahar-e-Faisal, I was looking frantically on left and on right, asking questions about every place and rewinding my old memories.

For the first time I travelled on Lyari Expressway 🛣️ (16.5 kms long) , which has mad me amaze that at least there is less crowded road exist.

I attended 3 weddings ceremonies each day, and the best thing was the special menu 🍽️ that contain all too-famous Biryani 🍛and Qurma, this combination was fantastic, even you can enjoy the meal with full stomach. Beside this, the utmost responsive and agile humans making your day full of life. This is what Karachiites are famous for.

In the daylight, I had the chance to see the city better. I was looking out of the car windows and trying to get an understanding of Karachi. My first impressions were of a seemingly lawless place with extreme levels of poverty. In the traffic 🚥 I felt as if I were on a roller coaster 🎢 or go-carting. Traffic lights or police officers were nowhere to be seen, not that I felt they would make much difference even if they had been there. I saw no big change in the past 12 years in Karachi , the infrastructure is so much damaged and the whole city seem an orphan city. Every where , a heaps of garbage 🗑️ are present that make it so ugly.😟

For its variety, Karachi is a very interesting place. You may have some prejudices and concerns before you arrive, but it really is a must-see city. However, I do not recommend it for women; they may find it a little difficult. Karachi is teeming with business activities. Life is fast, much faster as compared to Islamabad or even Lahore, but the liveliness and care-free environment is missing. Karachi is undouble the lifeline of Pakistan.

Finally I would like to thanks my cousin Dear Fazal Ahad, for inviting me to his daughter's Nikah ceremony and his warm hospitality and would also like to thanks all of my other family members. Your kind hospitality will be remembered. Long live Karachiites
